Picket Post Toastmasters

Picket Post Toastmasters achieved President's Distinguished status once again in 2008-2009! What does this mean? We are a local chapter of Toastmasters International. By earning President's Distinguished status, we demonstrate that we are an active, well run club that provides many opportunities for our members to develop their communication and leadership skills to reach their goals.

We've also had six of our Club members reach their own milestones so far this year.
Two members earned Advanced Communicator - Silver status: John Pettibone in November '08, and Janet Schwartzbeck in May '09.
Two members have earned Competent Communicator awards during the year: Dorothy Carlson in May '09, and Kiran Annaiah in June '09.
Two of our members reached Competent Leader status: Pat Moran and Maureen Walsh, both in June '09.
Several other Club members are within just a few speeches of earning their own Competent Communicator or Advanced Communicator certification!

These achievements underscore what Picket Post Toastmasters has achieved recently, and what we can do for you! We look forward to meeting you and helping you to achieve your goals.

The Toastmasters ExperienceImage 2

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet biweekly for about an hour and a half. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.

What can Picket Post Toastmasters do for you ?

Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

The Picket Post club is proactive in working with our new members to improve their speaking and leadership skills. Upon joining the club, our Mentoring Chairman will assign you an experienced speaker as a mentor, who will work with you to help you achieve your unique goals. Your mentor will guide you through the club's meeting structure, the roles assumed by members during meetings, and will work with you through your first several 'talks' (at a minimum). Speak with our club's Mentoring Chairperson, Patrick Moran, during your visit for more details!
